18 JULY 2003 RELEASE FOR BUFFALO SOLDIERS STARRING JOAQUIN PHOENIX, ANNA PAQUIN, ED HARRIS AND SCOTT GLENN

Pathé Distribution is pleased to announce the release date of 18th July 2003 for Buffalo Soldiers.

Produced by Rainer Grupe and Ariane Moody, BUFFALO SOLDIERS was written and directed by Gregor Jordan (Two Hands, Ned Kelly) from the best selling novel of the same name by Robert O’Connor.

Lovable rogue, Specialist Ray Elwood (Joaquin Phoenix), is about to find his own cold war turn white hot.  By day he works on a US Army base, as Clerk to the inept but caring Commander Wallace Berman (Ed Harris), but by night he relieves his boredom through conjuring a series of black market deals, from selling stolen Mop ‘n’ Glo to the locals, to cooking up heroin for the base’s ruthless head of Military Police.  When new top, Sergeant Lee (Scott Glenn), arrives to clean up the base, Elwood thinks it is nothing he can’t handle, especially when he sets eyes on the new sergeant’s daughter, the rebellious Robyn (Anna Paquin).  However, as things spiral downwards, Elwood finds himself out of his depth in more ways than one.

Joaquin Phoenix exploded onto the screen in 2000 as ruthless Emperor Commodus in Gladiator.  In the same year he made both Quills and The Yards.  He recently starred in the crop circle thriller Signs and will next be seen in It’s All About Love.  Having recently lent his voice to the animation adventure Brother Bear, he is currently filming Ladder 49 in Baltimore opposite John Travolta.

Joining Phoenix is multi Academy Award® nominee Ed Harris whose credits include The Hours, A Beautiful Mind, Enemy At The Gates, Pollock, The Truman Show and Apollo 13, Scott Glenn whose credits include The Shipping News, Training Day, The Virgin Suicides, Silence Of The Lambs and The Hunt For Red October and Anna Paquin who having won an Academy Award® aged just 11 for her role in The Piano, went on to star in X-Men and its recent sequel X2, 25th Hour, Almost Famous and A Walk On The Moon.

The original soundtrack for BUFFALO SOLDIERS is written and performed by David Holmes whose previous film score credits include Ocean’s Eleven, Out Of Sight and Resurrection Man.
